Brian Yeardley Continental trailer supplier Krone recently undertook a case study on the Company as part of their entry to the Motor Transport Awards 2012 in the ~Innovation~ category.
The award entry was on the Krone ~Multi-Safe Loading System.~
Regulation 100 of the Construction & Use Regulations, 1986, states, "All loads must be physically secured other than by their own weight." Which means that if the truck goes over the load must remain in place.
As a transport operator Brian Yeardley Continental is faced with some key issues concerning the loading of its trucks, these are:
1. Safety / Legal towards its employees, the general public and its corporate responsibilities.
2. Load Security - minimizing damage to loads, theft and increased security in transit.
3. Compliance with loading regulations.
All Brian Yeardley Continental trailers are fitted with Krone Multi Lock Side Rave - this is supplied with 126 strapping points on each side of the vehicle which gives in excess of 3000 options of securing the load. Each of these strapping points is 2 tons having a maximum permissible load of 8 tons over a metre length. In addition to the Multi Lock Side Rave, all company trailers are fitted with EN12642-XL, this is a European standard whereby vehicles need to fulfill certain minimum requirements (under test conditions), regarding stability criteria and test conditions of the front wall, rear wall and side walls of the trailer. Vehicle body structures in compliance with the requirements of this standard should have a certificate and are in general marked with a specific sign.
The Multi Safe Load Security System impressed the judges at this years Motor Transport Awards, Krone reached the final six in the ~Innovation~ Catergory.
